This book was perfect to introduce changes in the body to my 9.5 year old daughter. It was very carefully written for a young audience/reader and it explained everything in a way she could understand. What I enjoyed most about it is that sex was not mentioned, so it was very appropriate. I recommend this book to all parents who want to discuss hormonal and puberty changes with their daughters.
I gave this book to my 10 year old daughter to read. There is a lot of information in this book. I also bought her the American Girls books, but I liked this one best because it has more in depth information.
This is a wonderful book. Tells a girl everything she needs to know without going into the sex stuff. (There are great books for that later)I gave this to my niece and she went right into her room shut the door and read it. Same thing happened when I gave it to the 12 year old daughter of a friend.
I like it. I do miss the old line drawings, but maybe that's not a popular opinion! Lol! It's nice to share a book with my 9 year old that I read at about the same age. I could do without the links to further sex ed via Planned Parenthood in the back, but we just ignore that part and teach our family's values in that regard. Still a great book for kids with questions about puberty and their changing bodies. I love the positive, straightforward tone.
I chose this book to prepare my daughter for what is starting to happen to her body and the changes to come. I thought it was a good read. I will have her skip the last chapter for now since I don't think she needs to know about the first OBGYN appointment.
A great book for a younger girl needing to learn about periods. It does not talk about sex at all. My 9-year-old daughter and I read it together to walk us through this change in life.
Perfect when I was growing up.
A very informative book that I purchased for our older daughter a few years back and now, purchased another book for our younger daughter. I chose this book over others because this book does not go into other topics (like sex, drugs...). The book provides a parent guide which I removed from the book before giving it to them. Also, has a few pages at the end the book to track one's first year.
