The only fault to find with this book is pronouncing the author's last name. This is onevon my Top 10 Favorite Design reference, idea and inspiration books. I teach Mosaics, Knitting & Crochet and a variety of Mixed Media topics in our School District Adult Art Enrichment Program. This book, in particular, is a wealth of visual richness, color explosions, subtlety, boldness, exquisite design, balance. Every pattern is so unique and has so much depth that even if I do not particularly like the colors, that becomes a secondary matter. In my view that speaks volumes: good design should stand on it's own merit. Too often things are judged by color, which is cosmetic and superficial.My students use the Seguy books frequently. This is a retitled version of a 1974 publishing titled "Exotic Floral Patterns in Color by E.A. Seguy 40 Plates Containing 120 Motifs." It is described exactly as the original was, as having 40 pages, however, the images are not printed in folio format with one plate per page and no plate printed on the back of the image. This version, "E.A. Seguy Art Deco Floral Patterns in Full Color 40 Plates Containing 40 Motifs," has all 40 plates, and all 120 images, but they are printed back to back so that one cannot frame images individually (as was my intent). And while the images themselves are striking and colorful, half will necessarily need to be sacrificed to use them in the manner intended.
