Weak in every sense of the word. Having been born in Cairo and lived in the US most of my life I can tell you that the advice in this book is close to useless. The sight seeing information is thin at best and several pieces of info are just flat out wrong. The travel guide at the end is laughable. For example the vocabulary at the end in “common phrases” is very technical and in no way reflects language you would hear the average person using. Use this guide and prepare to be laughed at.

I bought this and the RoughGuide to Egypt. Both great books for our trip (just returned 11 Feb 2017). We left the Rough Guide at the hotel but took the Top 10 guide with us. great quick FYI's and pics. We chose not to hire a guide or take a tour. This book assisted us.

Not the greatest but gives you ideas. Interesting a few things in some top 10 list are 'skip it' in Lonely Planet!

These are my favorite travel books. I wish the map included Giza too, though

I'm a big fan of the DK Top 10 series for books. Since they have a relatively narrow focus, it can be beneficial if you've got a small period of time in a small space. However, Cairo and the rest of Egypt is deserving of a large book since there's lots to see.It's not to say that this book is bad: It'll give you the top 10 things to see in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel - but odds are you're going to see them anyway if you're doing a packaged tour.I like this book, but I can't really recommend it. You're better off buying the Lonely Planet Discover Egypt (Full Color Country Travel Guide) for a little bit more.

I have a lot f Eyewitness travel guides but this was my first "Top 10" book. I definitely prefer other Eyewitness travel guides since I found these "Top 10" guides lack a lot of important information. I still recommend it for those who will travel just a few days to Cairo

I really had no idea what to expect when I purchased this book. I am in my sixties and read the Twilight series with my 3 daughters when they came out, later watching those movies, and I found myself wanting to see (and hear) what was out there at this time for teenagers/young adults to read. I listened to the book on Audibles on my drive to work each day and I was amazed at how often I found myself just cracking up. The characters really come to life through the reader yet they are all distinctly individual. I love the originality of this band of misfits and the constant quick witted bantering that goes on between them. It feels very current, yet still has a sense of the history and unlimited boundaries of the magical world it occupies which believably coexists with our world as we know it. I found this book highly entertaining!

Debra Goelz has created a deliciously funny story in Mermaids and the Vampire Who Love Them. After making a serious mistake, Waverly Fishwater is forced to leave her friends and school to attend a school on the West Coast. This isn't your typical run of the mill mer-school, however. At the new school, Waverly meets students of all types, including fairies, werewolves, Greek gods, and the most dangerous to mermaids, vampires.Just as she is settling in, she uncovers a mystery that threatens the school and its students. Determined to get to the bottom of it, she enlists the help of her friends to help her solve it before it's too late.Waverly's character immediately clicked with me, and I related to her spunk, sense of humor and curiosity. I thoroughly enjoyed her interaction with the other characters who were also intriguing and often hilarious. I was especially drawn to the relationship between Waverly and her hottie Vampire boyfriend Pierce Knightguard.It was particularly enjoyable to listen to the audio. The narrator was fantastic and I quickly became immersed in the story. I highly recommend Mermaids and the Vampires who Love Them to all mermaid lovers and all who enjoy reading YA humor. I dare you not to snort with laughter!

Absolute must-read for anyone who has ever dreamed of being a mermaid! Or even if, for some weird reason, you've never wanted to be a mermaid, it's a rollicking great time!Confession - this was my first audiobook, so I wasn't sure what to expect going into it. How would the voice actor handle different characters? Would I get lost in the story if I could only listen (I'm very visual)? Would I connect and find myself in the story's world? Would my kids bug me while listening, since they didn't see a book in my hand?But really, this audiobook is the greatest! The adorable characters and fabulous world-building sucked me right in, and I was hooked (pun intended). It pushed all the right buttons for me - quirky humor, twisty-turny plot, characters to love, as well as a very talented voice actor who is the cherry on top. Giggles and swoons guaranteed, plus free hands for the popcorn. Five stars all around.

Debra Goelz is one of the rare authors who has the rare ability to make me laugh aloud. Mermaids and the Vampires who Love them is a story every mermaid lover should listen to. Even if you hate mermaids, you should still listen to it. I had so much fun tagging along with Waverly (and you know she's going to be awesome just by her name alone, am I right?) As she tried to solve the case of who the mernapper is while dealing with Algebra and other fantastical beings. If you enjoy books that transport you into a different world, this is the one to pick up.To compliment the superb writing is Cassandra Morris who did a phenomenal job reading this book. I love it when narrators totally get a character and she did.I totally enjoyed this book and hope...No, I KNOW you will too.

I am a security professional so I could finish this book in a few days but for a first timer or new to the world of security this will be a great book to get an idea on how things work in enterprises.

Book goes thru various security concepts, history and approaches, has javaScript/Node.JS/NPM code for reference. If your looking for a good detailed overview of web security for web development, then this is the boo for you.

Not what I expected. The book is more of an example for implementing OAuth and OpenID Connect with Node and Express. If you are looking for an in-depth explanation of OAuth or OpenId, then this is the wrong book.The book starts with a very high level overview of security concepts. This is rather basic, and most of it I already knew (and I am not a security expert).Then it has a closer look at OAuth and OpenID Connect. But the explanation is just 5 pages, and one page is a diagram. The diagram is worse than the one you find in Wikipedia (there should be 3 actors). The rest is mostly code (which I was not interested in).At that point I stopped reading, as it wasn't what I was looking for.

Purchased this as it was required for my Negotiation class. The book is very well-written and provides great insights, but keep in mind that it's not an easy read. After all, it was a required textbook for a graduate class.

This is a serious book for serious practitioners and students of negotiations. I fully agree with the other reviewers that this is a great book with two provisos:1) It is for the serious. While very well written, it is not light reading, and2) It is focused on analysis. For treatment of the "soft" aspects of negotiations, you will need to read other books.If you are looking for an introduction to negotiations, I recommend Mind and Heart of the Negotiator, The (4th Edition) by Leigh Thompson and Essentials of Negotiation by Roy J. Lewicki.If you are looking for an introduction to game theory, I recommend Thinking Strategically: The Competitive Edge in Business, Politics, and Everyday Life by Avinash K. Dixit and Barry J. Nalebuff.

This is a rich and complete book that touches all aspects of negotiation. The subtitle "The science and art of collaborative decision making" is might be even a better descriptor of the contents. The book has a certain scholar touch and is with 600 pages really comprehensive and more to be used as a reference than to be read in one sitting. For those that are more interested in a shorter book, "Co-opetition" might be a faster to read alternative that is quite in line with this book.Professor Raiffa shows that negotiations and how to approach them depend mainly in how the structure of the negatiation is eg. integrative vs distributive. He proposes a very structured way to approach negotiations, being good prepared and looking for alternatives to an agreement before to have the freedom to forfeit the negotiation. Once meeting being creative working together with the other party helps to find those spots that are valued differently by the parties and offer possibility of common gains. Whether always the described Full Open Truthfull Exchange (FOTE) is possible might be doubted but it gives at least the yardstick how things could be. The Game Theory chapter is in itself an excellent summary on the theme and a nice introduction for those that never have been exposed earlier to the subject.Part II. Two Party Distributive (Win-Lose) Negotiations. The type of negotiation we all think about as example is explained with plenty of details and examples, including a chapter on the particular case which are auctions.Part III. Two Party Integrative (Win-Win) Negotiations. This is the second type of negotiation we think of. There are several exmaples of different problem types one can find, some as the repartition of goods has many practical applications for the majority of people in rela life situations and gives very practical insights.Part IV. External Help. Describes what professional help can do for you in a negotiation, and what you ahould take into account before asking for help.Part V. Many parties. Shows the complexity of negotiations of any type when a major number and how in that occasion agreements can be drafted.In all chapters there are plenty of examples and information how people react in laboratory situations coming from the which gives the best approximation of real situations develop. Each chapter is closed with a summary of the core concepts which helps when one wants to review the book.With the comprehensiveness of the book few things are missing or could have been mentioned additionally. I immediately borrowed this book and kept borrowing it every week till end of my Final semesters (Alas with lot of fines).This book is very informative and provides in-depth details and examples of various negotiation scenarios. If you are looking for some serious negotiation read don't look further.

This is a wonderful book for serious practitioners and students of negotiation. It covers the negotiation waterfront so completely that this reader -- who is also a writer and negotiation prof -- is left wondering what more can be said on the subject. Unlike most pop negotiation books, this tome drills deep into qualitative and quantitative approaches to structuring and analyzing simple and complex negotiation situations. The quality of the writing is superb. The author's insights are profound, informed by years of experience in the field. The quantitative discussion can be a bit intimidating, especially to math-challenged readers. But even without the quantitiave material, it's well worth the price of admission.

This book has a real wow factor. I was amazed at how much ground it covers - game theory, pscyhology, decision analysis, negotiation stuff. There's a great balance of technical help with easy-to-read conversations between hypothetical negotiators making the tricky concepts easier to understand. You probably won't want to read it from cover-to-cover but every chapter has really useful insights on how to negotiate better with positive or negative counterparts.

My daughter is 4, is a bit shy, and has a hard time reaching out to other kids because she's worried she's going to be rejected. Based on all the great reviews, I had high hopes that this book would give us some suggestions on how to initiate play and make new friends. The first thing I noticed is this book is pretty long for a kids book (about 30 pages) and too wordy to hold my daughter's interest (perhaps it's intended for slightly older children). The main reason I disliked this book, though, is the brown pencil doesn't have any friends is because according to himself, he says, "I complain a lot...at times I'm disrespectful and I usually wear a frown...I hardly ever laugh but the others laugh at me." One of the other pencils tells Brown, "...you never laugh and you always put us down. You think our opinions are silly...you like to disagree with everything we say...you always complain...you don't even try to understand where we are coming from..." Yet another pencil tells Brown, "...you can't expect the other colors to like you if you don't like yourself." It does have some good points where Brown follows some of the suggestions from the other colors, like smiling at others, giving Blue a hug when she was feeling bad, and listening to what Purple had to say rather than rolling his eyes and ignoring him.Overall, I feel this book is way too negative and is not really worded well for a book geared toward children. I will be returning this one. I found the Cheri J. Meiners book, Join in and Play, much more useful.

the subtext is somewhat implicitly racist. I'm irate - I am a therapist and bought this for reading to youth in bibliotherapy. I was shocked to preview it and discover that the "brown crayon" hates himself for being brown. If you're a brown youth (person of color), that kind of messaging is really strikingly obvious. We don't need more subtextual racism in this fragile era - positively reinforcing hatred (and self-hatred) of brown-ness is one potential consequence of this book. Literally any of the other colors could have been chosen to animate - but the author chose brown. Grey, for example, could be inserted verbatim and at least would be racially neutral. I can't believe this got past an editor at Boy's Town Press.

I usually don't purchase new books without seeing reviews but I immediately bought this one and I wasn't disappointed. Julia Cook's books have been useful. As an elementary school counselor I'm always searching for books on friendship. There don't seem to be many out there on how to make friends and what to do if you have friendship problems. Although I also recommend "How to be a friend" by Marc Brown and "My friends and me" by Pat Thomas. I look for books that will appeal to 6-8 year olds. I've already used this book with groups and it's worked out well.So for the plot: The Brown colored pencil feels alone and left out. A few of the other colored pencils tell him he needs to be a good friend to make friends. Each of the colors has a specific positive quality. Brown is a combination of all the other colors so he has those qualities within him. He takes their advice and begins to recognize his own strengths. He changes his ways and does things to try and help out the other pencils. He feels better about himself and now has friends.The story did repeat some things to try and make the story hit home but I'm not sure it was necessary. A couple of pages almost felt out of place and were a little too long. For instance, towards the end Brown listens to a presentation on how to take over the art supply market. He was doing this to support his friend but I don't think the audience this is geared to would understand the situation, nor did it add to the story.Overall, the book has a good message that resonates with children. It is easy to use in discussion regarding friendship and self esteem and I would buy it again.

I bought this for my son, who needed a reminder of how to behave in a way that would make more friends. Not only does it teach a good lesson, but it's a fun read! It's a much better story than some of the other books we've read that are aimed at being friends. The characters are a little more believable than some of the other friend books and the main character echoes some real complaints that my own son has made in the past. I would definitely recommend this book to another parent whose child needed a gentle reminder.

Nope this overly wordy story misses the mark. The presumption is something is wrong with you and that’s why no one likes you. The villain of the story is a lonely, grouchy, jealous crayon who is rude to all the kind more popular crayons. Once he changes and talks to them they find common ground. The moral is change yourself to make friends. There are some basic social skills taught but the lesson that the other crayons should make effort too is left out entirely and the fault is laid on the lone crayon. Wrong message and way too wordy for the ages it’s written for. Almost insulting.

As a pediatric nurse, I really appreciate Julia Cook's books! However, this is my favorite!! Wonderful way to teach children good character traits and help them see how they can improve friendships. More importantly, this book is my 7 year old daughters favorite book!This book is great for kids who feel left out or do not pick up on social ques as quickly as others may. It is also great for the child who tends to see the glass as half empty. Help your kid feel confident and use his "colors" Another excellent child self-help author is Dawn Hubner. Wonderful book on anxiety for kids.

I really like this book. I'm a school counselor and use this book with second graders to introduce the topic of "Friendship". Julia Cook's book are generally a big hit with all my peers and students.

My kiddo is autistic and these books are written and illustrated so well. They follow similar to our social stories we use. And the author address so many issues kiddos these days face, including mine. Highly recommend her books, we have many of them!
