This came in on time and seems to be in good quality. The only complaint I have about the quality is the smell that came with the book. It wasn't too much of a bother at first when I was flipping through the book, but then I noticed that the smell clings onto my hands after I touch it and lingers. It's annoying because it smells super musty/medicinely. I know that this is a minor detail and that the book was rented by other people, but it's just bothersome.

Very helpful for a good price

I purchased this book as a new item, but it's in poor condition. I ordered it 2 times, the first time it came with a significant tear in the front cover in the book. I returned it and ordered a new one, and it's not even in good condition. It has tears on the spine of the book, is dirty on the sides, and is wrinkled in some places. I find this unacceptable for such an expensive book, and it's going to decrease it's resell value because it looks so used.The book itself is helpful for doing the practice problems in the textbook and would recommend having. Just be careful where you order from.

I got it in 2 days, it is brand new and I'm happy with it!

I grew up just 5 miles from the former location of NAS Squantum and rode my bike on the old runway as a kid. But I never knew this base had a history that went back to very earliest days of aviation. I also had no idea that the base was the location of a ship yard that built US Navy destoyers. Those are a few of the gems that can be found in this easily read picture book.Images from NAS Squantum's history are presented, from the aforementioned "gems", through WW2 and the eventual migration to NAS So. Weymouth. This book covers the history of this airfield from the late 1940's until decomissioning in the mid 90's: from the farmland that was eventually converted to patrol base with blimps and finally an airbase with fixed wing and rotor winged aircraft. The size of the blimp hangars, as shown on the cover, is almost beyond belief. Images of the giant hangar's contruction and destruction are detailed. Airshow fans that visited the base during one of the many open houses will recognize many of the scenes and may even see themselves!A must for any New England or US Navy history buff looking for a peek into a bygone era.

The book has a simple graphical explanation of fructose intolerance. The guide, which is abit complicated, has information about fast food you can eat as of 2017. The book seems self published and is choppy at times, and definitely is coming from the perspective that you should push yourself right up to the boundary of your symptoms before changing food habits. It's ok to use for more information but is not a definitive guide like Monash or Mayo Clinic info.

Very good index and info. However, the tables are a bit hard to understand. So, I just use the index to get some information on the food product in which I am interested!

May be a great book, but all the reviews seem to be written by people who have submitted only one review to Amazon ever.Makes me seriously wonder if this is a legitimate five-star book or whether these are bogus reviews posted to drive sales.

For me, it is a great mix of both worlds - the symptom protection and the motivation to change my life for the better.

It is surprising how easy all becomes when it is depicted well. I feel like an expert on the disease now and managing my diet plan is so much easier than it was with the comparable tiny and difficult to use food list I received from my advisor (it just showed 20 high fructose fruits and no tolerable amounts unlike this book covering interactions and more than 1,000 foods).

This is the first book written by scientists that is easy to understand. I was looking for a guide that is solid, and this one goes all the way. Patients can easily understand and apply it.

I have tried different books, and somehow they I always felt more insecure after reading them. Now this one is a home run. It covered so much ground and got me going. But let my bowel speak for itself: “I calmed down.” Thank you for this guide!

I am a professional dog groomer and I bought this book to keep at work for educational purposes. Its horrendous. They have breeds labeled wrong and the ones they do have right use horrible examples for the breed pictures. There are poodles and "bullys" in the hearding group, bulldogs in the guardian group, ECT.. They will say a breed is "generally healthy" and then give a long list of genetic defects it could suffer from. Their "at a glance" chart (for things like training, exercise, grooming, affection, ECT..) are completely random. DO NOT BUY.

We got this book for our kids, one of which is very passionate about dog breeds. After continuity being disappointed whenever we had to return dog breed books to the library, we decided to get one for keeps. They love this book. Our oldest (14 years old) was shocked to find breeds she hasn't heard of. This book will keep them busy for a long time. The only disappointment was there were no Buggs in the book, but we understand you can't get all the mixed breed into one book 😊. We also loved that it was a smaller book - perfect for taking on roadtrips.

Great book -- so many dogs well illustrated and cogently described in helpful ways. Good quick resource or interesting full-read. We already knew a lot about dogs and went to many dog shows; even so, we learned a great deal easily and quickly reading this book. We found our next dog breed here and would never have found it otherwise.

An amazing range of breeds, many more than the AKC recognizes. Gives the sort of information you'd need to know if you were considering getting one -- like, "not good with children," "for the experienced dog owner," "needs constant stimulation and a large yard."

My 12 year old has read at least 4 other dog breed encyclopedia's from the library, cover to cover. She wanted one for her birthday and so went hunting and found this one. It is better than all the others! She loves it.

We bought this book to help us attempt to identify mixes of breeds when we do rescue intake. It is great! The size is good to take with us on intakes and it shows a vast array of dog breeds, beyond the breeds recognized by the AKC. It also has fast facts about the breeds which is very helpful. We noted that one of the negative reviews of this book is that it does not have a listing for a Poodle. Perhaps that reviewer should have checked the index for a Standard Poodle ( the correct name of the breed) as the breed is, in fact, in this book.

I bought this for my teenage daughter. She loves it because it is packed with great photographs and lots of information.

Figure out what your neighbor's dog is or use to choose your next dog. Very cool mix of facts and history. Bought as a gift.

Viktor Schauberger was an absolute genius, easily the equal of an Albert Einstein or a Nikola Tesla. He came from a family of foresters, and many of his early ideas came from watching the movement of water and fish in the forests he protected.His knowledge was tapped by Hitler during WWII, leading the Allies to the suspicion that he might have been affiliated with the Nazis. He wasn't, but it is understandable why someone back then might have had concerns in that regard.Schauberger's scientific contributions were many, and included some of the most mind-boggling ideas about propulsion of aircraft that have ever been produced. Even today, his ideas are light years beyond anything we have in production; at least the stuff our military/government will admit to. After Schauberger was released from military custody at the end of the war, he remarked that the Allies had confiscated his research and it was never returned to him. To the best of my knowledge, the research materials taken from him have to this day, never been declassified or released. That's not bad for 70 or 80 year old ideas, eh?Perhaps his greatest contribution is his work regarding water, and its conservation. He produced water chutes to bring timber down out of the mountains that were copied the world over. He employed principles to work with the water that had never been considered before. For instance, he maintained, and rightfully so, that water has greater energetic capacity when it is chilled. The cooling of water and regulation of its temperature was one attribute of his timber chutes that made them work. No one believed what he said would work until he proved it by building a working prototype and proving it.His single most mind-boggling idea is that virtually all our technology today is based upon the explosion. For example, in our cars, the engine works by combustion, with explosions pushing pistons, etc. This, says Schauberger, is absolutely the opposite of the way Nature works. Nature produces its energy through a process of implosion, which, he maintained, produces far more work capacity, while causing little or no environmental pollution. If he is correct, and there is every reason to believe he is absolutely correct, our entire technological foundation is heading us for some ultimate burnout. It cannot be sustained, and in attempting to do so it will continue to waste and destroy all our resources. It may yet be possible to turn this around by adopting the concept of implosion technology, but it remains to be seen if the economic powers of the world will have enough wisdom to pursue this course, or if they will ride the train of greed all the way until the tracks fall off the cliff.I could go on and on, but you really need to read this book to get even a small idea of the scope of this man's thinking and his contributions. Like several other figures from the past, Schauberger's is a name that is only now beginning to be appreciated for the contributions he made, and the contributions the further implementation of his ideas are yet capable of making.

With no formal training in the sciences, Schauberger made a "spiritual" connection with Nature. He understood that the Universe is not complex, and the Laws of Nature are actually very simple, since the highest wisdom passes directly from the brain into the heart.This allowed him to understand how human interaction is destroying Nature, and how balance could and should be maintained so everything would flourish. "Highly ordered systems lose stability when their environment suffers deterioration." He predicted that a decrease in biodiversity in nature would lead to an increase in violence and a degeneration of spiritual qualities in humans. He also predicted how deforestation would lead to more violent weather worldwide. I think we've proven these predictions as accurate, and they were made before Al Gore was even born.But, like other visionaries who challenged the establishment, Viktor posed a threat to those who benefitted from the status quo. From their perspective Nature exits to be manipulated and exploited for the "benefit" of humanity. There is no accountability.The book is divided into sections dealing with water, trees and energy. Some of this gets moderately complex, but understanding the exact workings of how a tree pumps sap based on temperature gradient is not necessary to comprehending the basis of balance in Nature. The most fascinating discussion involved water, and the fact that it is a living entity.

I wish I would have discovered this book forty years ago (& 37 years before it was printed)- I do this New Age, holistic, alternative lifestyle stuff for a living & this book is far beyond anything I've ever encountered.How anyone can start out daydreaming on a riverbank & end up inventing a flying saucer travelling 1500 miles per hour with antigravity properties that broke through the roof of its manufacturing plant.And speaking of plants, Viktor's tree realizations and H2O's role on Earth is so different than anything ever conceived.And speaking of conceived, it is very straightforward to conclude that if Germany would have discovered Viktor Schauberger's gadgets sooner, Germany would have been viktorious in World War II.

This book is amazing and will forever alter the way you look at water and how humans interact with it. Extremely powerful and informative information.

This is the first story I’ve read concerning the struggle of Israel’s quest for independence and I’m glad I read it.Ruth Gruber does an excellent job chronicling the life of Raquela Levy. As young woman, she tried to determine what her calling in life would be. When she realized her gift was being a midwife, she plunged herself into the work as she would with all her coming adventures.The parts that intrigued me the most were the battles the Jews were having not with the Arabs or Muslims, but the occupiers-Britain. They were not benevolent rulers as history has attempted to paint them in the 20th Century. They were hard, calloused and unconcerned with the plight of the Jews in Palestine.Even with the end of WWII and the finding of the concentration camps, you would think the British would be a little more understanding to the plight of the Jews. Not happening. They spent countless time and money ensuring no Jewish male was armed in order to keep order with their Arab neighbors even though they were being attacked. The restrictions on DP’s from Germany was just as appalling. Many of the people were survivors of the concentration camps and instead of breathing the air of freedom, they were placed in camps in Palestine and Cyprus that were replicas of the death camps they had endured. Absolutely appalling!Through all of this, Raquela would serve in each camp and continue to assist in bringing new life into a country they hoped one day would form- the promised land.A great story of love, passion and hope.An excellent companion to, “My Mother’s Ring.”Five Stars

Ruth Gruber wanted to tell the story of the nation of Israel. To do so she wanted to find a true 'woman of Israel'. She found Raquela, who was a 9th generation Israeli. Beginning in the 1940s Raquela's story is told - nursing school to become a midwife, dealing with news of Hitler's atrocities against the Jews. Further tragedy when the Jews were rescued from the camps, and then had no 'homeland' to return to. Thousands of them ended up in refugee camps which were not much better than where they had been. Raquela is sent to some of these camps to care for the pregnant women there, to deliver their babies, as well as delivering hope of eventual freedom. The book is an excellent history lesson from the point of view of one who lived it. The Arab-Israeli conflict is nothing new, and the Jews still struggle to claim their 'homeland'.

This is an amazing book. It is a page turner, although I am reading it more slowly as I want to take it in more and not finish too fast. Ruth Gruber was an amazing writer. I am sad she is gone now at 105 in 2016. Her life itself was an amazing life, spanning World War II, etc.. This book really provides an inside look at what it was like in Israel after the war when Israel had to fight to exist. It is nothing short than a miracle of God that they did. The evil of the British at that time is mind boggling. The British government treated the Jews that had been released from prison camps almost as badly as the Nazi's did. I still don't get it. It is very much the personal story of Raquela, but also the story of the early beginnings of Israel. There is so much I didn't know or understand about that time period. I am a lover of Israel and believe that they will prevail as God will never forsake them. Anyone who has any interest in Israel should read this book.

I loved this first-hand account of Ruth Gruber's life- beginning as a young child in Jerusalem to becoming a highly respected nurse/midwife during that time in history when hundreds of thousands of Jewish refuges came to Israel from the horrific prison/extermination camps in Germany. They came to the Promised Land rejoicing at this fulfillment of their dream of freedom, and of finally being able to establish a new life in Israel... only to find themselves once again in prison camps! In utter dismay, they are confined behind barbed-wire fences where they lived more years without the freedom they longed for. Though excruciatingly painful to read at times, the author paints for us a clear and haunting portrait of a brave people with an indomitable spirit who continue to overcome their circumstances. Ruth G.- who has her own share of tragedies, takes us on an unforgettable journey that will not be forgotten.
